ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth freshman Taylor Pierson picked where she left off during the indoor track and field season Saturday as she finished first in the long jump at the ROC City Classic at Golden Flyer Stadium.

Pierson, who placed 10th nationally in the long jump during the indoor season, posted a winning leap of 5.63 meters (18 feet, 5 1/2 inches) to break the school record of 17 feet, 5 inches, set by Melissa Cutliffe in 2009. Freshman Amanda Entress also competed in the long jump for Nazareth and placed fourth with a leap of 4.92 meters (16 feet, 1 3/4 inches).

Pierson also placed second in the 100-nmeter dash with a time of :12.99 seconds and ran on Nazareth's second-place 4 x 400-meter relay that was clocked in a school-record time :50.84. Sibongile Chisi, Amanda Entress and Hannah Brackley also competed in the relay.

Nazareth had several other strong perofmances, including first-place finishes by Brackley in the 400-meter dash as she broke her own school record with a time of :59.28; sophomore Michaela Gildemeyer in the 800-meter run (2:22.00); senior Lauren Jamieson in the 1,500-meter run (5:05.23); and senior Keahglan Morrissey in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.84).

The Golden Flyers also won the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:14.87) with the team of Brackley, Gildemeyer, Morrissey and Katie Wyant.

Nazareth took the first four places in the 800-meter run with Kelsey Mash (2:27,12), Kayla Murphy (2:30.70) and Lauren Heitzhaus (2:33.00) finishing behind Gildemeyer. Morrissey also placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (:17.27) and fifth in the high jump (4 feet, 9 3/4 inches). Chisi was third in the pole vault as she cleared 9 feet, 1/4 inches and senior Jen Hogan was fourth in the hammer throw with a personal-best distance of 116 feet, 9 1/4 inches. Senior Kelsey Ryan finished third in the 5,000-meter run (19:41.05).
