Galloway, NJ – After falling down early in the first inning the EC Softball team rallied late, but eventually fell 3-1 to Sage Colleges on Sunday in the ECAC Semifinal game. The Gators are 22-18 on the season and move on to play in the ECAC Championship game, while the Soaring Eagles fall to 25-14 and are eliminated from the tournament.
The Gators came out ready to hit in the top of the first with Hillary Faas hitting a two run blast over the left center field wall and Courtney Laughlin hitting a solo shot over the center field wall. After the first inning
Alex Puglisi ’14 would soon settle in and only allow the Gators to get three more hits in the game. In the bottom of the sixth
Mikayla Bean ’14 was able to come through hitting an RBI double to score
Katie Dore ’15 and narrow down the Gators lead to 3-1. However, Sage’s Katie Kovage stayed strong not allowing the Soaring Eagles to rally back earning the victory.
Kovage earned her 10 victory of the season pitching seven innings, allowing three hits, one earned run and two walks, while striking out two.
Puglisi suffered the loss pitching all seven innings allowing six hits and three earned runs, while striking out 10 batters.
