Ithaca Earns Bid to NCAA Tournament - Bombers Top Seed in Auburn Regional

The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee has announced the 56 teams that will compete in the 2013 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship, and the Empire 8 will be represented by Ithaca College who received an at-large bid. 

The Bomber, who are 32-6, are seeded first in the eight-team, double-elimination New York Regional, which will be held at Falcon Park in Auburn, N.Y., beginning Wednesday, May 15. Ithaca opens against eighth-seeded Moravian (24-17) at 1:15pm. 

Fourth-seeded Farmingdale State (28-13) takes on fifth-seeded Neumann (29-13) in its opening game at 10 am, while Rowan (32-12), the third seed, plays sixth-seeded Amherst (25-11) at 4:30 pm. Second-seeded SUNY Cortland (34-9) opens against seventh seeded RPI (28-13) at 7:45 pm.

The NCAA Baseball Championship features 56 teams in eight regional brackets. Six teams will compete at four regional sites and eight teams will compete at four regional sites. All regionals will use a double-elimination format. Thirty-eight conference champions qualified automatically. Winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the double-elimination championship May 24-28 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis.
