UC T&F Competes in Final Regular-Season Meet @ Oneonta

Oneonta, NY (5-11-13) – The Utica College men track and field teams competed in its final meet before post-season competition Saturday afternoon at the Oneonta State May Meet. The Pioneers were led by freshman
Rob Tutein (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) who recorded a victory in the high jump with his season-best leap of 1.98 meters.
Freshmen
Frank Volino (Syracuse, NY/CNS), Jr. took second in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal and season-best time of 15.57 while classmate
Christian Lesperance(Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg) finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a final time of 50.48. Sophomore
Andrew Hoover (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.19.
The UC 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Lesperance, juniors
Brandon Rudolphe (Bronx, NY/Pocono Mountain West) and
Trevor Gibson (Youngstown, OH/Springfield)and senior
Sylvester Owusu-Afriyie (Mt. Vernon, NY/Walton High School) clocked a season-best time of 43.07 for a fourth place tally.
Junior
Donald Devries (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) registered a personal-best toss of 37.89 in the hammer throw to guide UC in its final regular-season action before heading to ECAC's.
The Pioneers return to action next weekend for the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College. The events are set for Thursday-Friday, May 16-17. The regional championship will be held at the Blake Track on the Springfield campus. Thursday's events kick off with the decathlon and field events at 1 p.m. followed by the track events at 4 p.m.
