Ithaca Women's T&F Team Third in Regional Rankings, Breaks Into National Top 25

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Ithaca College women's track & field team ranks third in week seven of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Atlantic Region poll announced Wednesday. Ithaca ranked fourth in the week six poll. The Bombers broke into the national standings for the first time this season ranking 25th, a one-spot improvement from a week ago.

The Bombers have seven top-20 performances receiving national recognition thus far this season.

Sophomore Emilia Scheemaker ranks fourth nationally with a school-record mark of 12.17 meters in the triple jump. Senior Amanda Rissmeyer ranks seventh in the high jump with a 1.70-meter clear and sits 15th with a 4,453-point performance in the heptathlon. Classmate Jenn Randall ranks sixth in the 1,500-meter run clocking a school-record time of 4:29.52 and is 11th in the 800 run with a time of 2:11.55. Rookie Brooke Zimmerman is 14th in the javelin with a season-best toss of 41.83 meters. Ithaca’s 4x400 team of freshman Christine Kelly, junior Martyann Chromik, Randall and freshman Eliza Dewart rank 18th with a finish of 3:53.67.

The Bombers will compete Thursday and Friday, May 16-17 at the ECAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Springfield.
