Day One Wraps up at Outdoor Track and Field ECAC Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
– Empire 8 men’s outdoor track & field teams finished up Day One at the ECAC Championships on Thursday at Springfield College. Stevens Institute of Technology is in ninth place with 12 points and Ithaca tallied four points to sit in 24th place.

Stevens junior Michael Cahill shattered the school record in the 10,000-meter run by 50 seconds with a second place finish. Cahill clocked a time of 31:21.07 and was the lone runner in a field of 19 to run a personal best time.

Senior Sebastian Luna took fifth in the javelin with a toss of 57.96 meters (190' 2"). 

Ithaca freshman Sawyer Hitchcock finished the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a fifth-place time of 9:32.90.
