2013 Softball Tournament Quick Facts
The 2013 Empire 8 Softball Playoff field has been set, with four teams battling for a chance to win the postseason conference championship and earn the E8's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
The playoffs begin on Friday, May 3 with four games. Second-seeded Elmira plays third-seeded St. John FIsher College at 10am, followed by top-seeded Utica College verse fourth-seeded Alfred University at 12pm. The losers of the first two games are scheduled to play at 2pm in an elminiation game, while the winners from games one and two will play each other at 4pm.
The tournament will continue with two games Saturday, and one more, if necessary, on Sunday.

Tournament Quick Facts
-The Empire 8 Athletic Conference will employ a four team double-elimination tournament format for the 12th straight year (2002-2013).
- Utica is making its first appearance in the tournament since 2007. They clinched the number one seed, and hosting rights for the conference tournament for the first time in program history.
-Elmira is makings its fifth tournament appearance, but its first since 2005. The No. 2 seed is the highest the Soaring Eagles have been in program history.
-St. John Fisher has appeared in every E8 tournament.
-Alfred is back in the tournament for the sixth straight year and seventh overall.
- St. John Fisher is the only team in the tournament that is won a Championship (2008, 2009, 2011).
-The longest tournament game went 11 innings in 2009 with Ithaca defeating Alfred, 3-2.
- Utica and Alfred have met one time in history of the tournament (2006 Utica won 8-0). The two teams split the 2013 regular season doubleheader.
- Elmira and Fisher split its 2013 regular season doubleheader and have met on two occassions in the tournament. The Cardinals won both times (2002, 2-1 and in 2005, 1-0).
- Elmira has never played Alfred or Utica in the tournament.
- Fisher is 1-1 against Utica in the tournament and 4-1 against Alfred in tournament history.
