Empire 8 Places 11 on D3Baseball All-Region Teams

Eleven Empire 8 Athletic Conference student-athletes were named to the 2013 D3Baseball.com All-New York Region teams. Of the 11 E8 players selected, four were chosen for First Team honors and Ithaca's Pat Lemmo earned Pitcher of the Year and George Valesente was tabbed the Coach of the Year.

Valesente and his staff led the Bombers to their 11th Empire 8 title in 13 years with a 10-1 conference record. Ithaca started its season at 4-4 before going on an 18-game winning streak in a span of a month. With a current 38-6 record, the Bombers won the NCAA New York Regional with a 4-0 record and have qualified for the Division III World Series for the first time in 18 years. 
 
Tim Locastro has started all 43 games and is hitting .424. Offensively, he has totaled 61 hits, 11 doubles, 32 RBIs and 36 stolen bases so far this season. Defensively, the shortstop has recorded 91 putouts and 136 assists.
 
Lemmo is 11-0 with a team-low 1.44 earned run average in 13 appearances on the mound.  To date, Lemmo has thrown five complete games and struck out 66 batters in 100.1 innings.

Junior Dan Allen of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team made the first team as a utility player.  Allen finished his junior campaign with six saves in nine appearances on the mound with a slender 0.73 earned-run average. In the batter's box, Allen paced the Ducks' offense in 11 categories. He hit .343 in 140 at bats with 40 runs batted in and 32 runs scored. Allen also registered 48 hits which included 13 doubles and four homeruns for a .521 slugging percentage. He reached base at a .423 clip with 20 walks and also stole 19 bags.

St. John Fisher junior Justin D'Amato finished the year with a 7-2 record on the mound and 1.46 earned run average in 11 appearances. D'Amato thre 70 strikeouts in 68 innings of work and held opponents to a .182 batting average.
