The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has recognized St. John Fisher College softball student athlete Sarah Fordyce as a 2013 Second Team All-American. Fordyce was an integral part of the Cardinals winning the Empire 8 Conference Championship and helping Fisher secure the No. 1 seed in the Ithaca Regional of the NCAA Division III Championship.

The senior was Fisher’s most consistent and feared hitter during the 2013 season, leading the team in five major hitting statistical categories. Fordyce paced the Cardinals in batting average (.400), slugging percentage (.759), hits (58), home runs (13) and total bases (110).

All five of those stats place Fordyce in the top three in each category for the Empire 8 except hits, where she placed ninth.

Her 13 home runs this past season set a new College record, breaking classmate Leanne Merchant’s previous records that she set in 2011 (10) and 2012 (11).

Fordyce has racked up accolades this season, as she was named to the Empire 8 First Team, the NFCA All-Region First Team and Academic All-District honors from CoSIDA for her accomplishments in the classroom.

The Cardinals finished the season 35-14 as they finished third in the regional round of the NCAA Championship.
