The St. John Fisher College men’s golf team had four of its members named to the PING Mid-Atlantic All-Region team at the NCAA Division III Championship last week. Joseph Radulski, Thad Wier, Chris Blyth and Corey Haas all earned the accolades, while Haas also made the PING All-Freshman Team.

Radulski led the Cardinals at the NCAA Championship, shooting 293 (+8) for the four rounds, finished in a tie for 12th place on the player’s leaderboard. Entering the tournament, he was averaging 76 strokes per round, which placed him seventh in the region, according to Golfstat’s ratings. The senior’s best finish for the year was a tie for second at the ECAC Division III Metro/Upstate Championship. He also finished in sole possession of third place at the Empire 8 Championship, which wrapped up in late April after two rounds were played in the fall.

Next to earn the honor is Blyth, who gave Fisher four solid rounds at the NCAA Championship, helping the Cardinals finish in the top 10 (T-9th). Before beginning the NCAA tournament, the sophomore was finishing rounds using, on average, just 75.07 strokes. This average allowed Blyth to be ranked second in the Mid-Atlantic Region by Golfstat. In 2012-13, Blyth finished in the top five of six different tournaments, including first place at the St. John Fisher College Invitational and the McDaniel Spring Invitational.

Wier trailed Blyth by just .10 strokes per round before the NCAA Championships, using 75.17 swings to complete 18 holes. That stat had Wier ranked fifth in the region after nine tournaments and 20.5 rounds. The junior finished in the top 10 of six tournaments this past season, including winning the ECAC Division III Metro/Upstate Championship and being the medalist of the Empire 8 Championship. Wier’s win in the Empire 8 tournament earned him Player of the Year honors in the Conference.

Haas was just one of six freshmen in the country to be named to the PING All-Freshman team, making him the top freshman in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Overall, Haas was ranked eighth in the region behind his 77.03 strokes per round average. The freshman tie for the win with Blyth at the St. John Fisher Collegiate Invitational and took Freshman of the Year honors at the Empire 8 Championship.
