Four Earn Baseball All-America Honors

The America Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com have announced the All-American Teams for the 2013 season and four Empire 8 student-athletes have be recognized.
 
Ithaca senior pitcher Pat Lemmo earned first-team honors from both organizations, while junior shortstop Tim Locastro was a an ABCA first-team selection and a d3baseball.com second team choice. Sophomore pitcher John Prendergast was named to the ABCA third team and St. John Fisher junior Justin D’Amato was a d3.baseball.com third team honoree.

Lemmo went 12-2 with a 1.76 ERA. He posted double digits in victories for the second straight season and nearly matched his 1.75 ERA from a year ago. The Empire 8 Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season was a first-team selection to D3baseball.com’s all-region team. He struck out 71 batters and walked just 18. He held opponents to a .245 batting average and gave up two home runs all year. Lemmo threw five complete games including one shutout.
 
Locastro, the Empire 8 Player of the Year, was the Bombers' leader in batting average (.436), slugging percentage (.663) and on-base percentage (.553) while also topping the team with 71 hits, six triples, four home runs and 71 runs scored. A first-team Empire 8 and D3baseball.com New York region all-star, he stole 40 bases, drove in 36 runs and set a school record by reaching base 27 times after being hit by a pitch.
 
Prendergast posted a perfect 10-0 record from the mound. He struck out 55 hitters over 83.2 innings and held opposing batters to a .227 average. Prendergast complied a 2.04 ERA and completed four of his 12 starts. 
 
The Bombers posted a school record 41 wins and won the Empire 8 title for the 11th time in 13 years and made their 44th appearance in the NCAAs. Ithaca returned to the College World Series for the first time since 1994 and finished third in the nation.
 
D'Amato finished the season 7-2 with a 1.46 ERA in 68 innings. He had 70 strikeouts while only giving up on five extra base hits on the year. Opposing hitters batted just .182 against the lefty as he threw four complete games.
 
After the seven wins and 70 strikeouts, D'Amato now holds the career wins record at 27 and strikeout mark with 250. Fisher won the ECAC Metro/Upstate Championship as the No. 1 seed this season. It finished the season with a 28-14 overall record.
