The Cardinals also placed four student athletes on the PING Mid-Atlantic All-Region team and one of those made the PING All-Freshman Team, which was awarded to just six players in the country. Senior Joseph Radulski, junior Thad Wier, sophomore Chris Blyth and freshman Corey Haas all made All-Region while Haas was honored with teh All-Freshman accolade.

The original five finalists are Methodist’s Steve Conley, Scott Moe of Gustavus Adolphus, Illinois Wesleyan’s Jim Ott, Jim Owen of Oglethorpe and Simms. After Texas @ Tyler won the Division III NCAA Championship, head coach King Campbell was also added to the list. Campbell is scheduled to retire this offseason.

Simms won this award after the 2007-08 season, in which the Cardinals placed third at the NCAA Championship after leading for the first three rounds. Scott Harris Jr. was the medalist at the Championship, earning the College its only national championship.
