Fisher and Utica to Play in NCAA Softball Tournament; Top Two Seeds in Ithaca Regional

The NCAA unveiled its 62-team softball bracket Monday morning, and the Empire 8 will have two representatives. Empire 8 Champions St. John FIsher (32-12) earned the automatic berth and will be and Utica College (33-12) will be making its first appearance as one of the 19-teams to receive an at large bid.

Fisher has earned the top seed in the Ithaca Regional, with its first meeting against No. 8 Western Connecticut State at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Utica will served as the No. 2 seed and face Washington College on Thursday at 4pm. 

Like the Empire 8 Championship, the regional rounds are also double elimination.

The NCAA Division III Softball Championship features 62 teams in eight regional brackets with the winner of each region moving on to play in the eight-team regional rounds, which will be held May 10-13. The finals, hosted by the Wisconsin-Eau Claire, will be held May 17-21 at the Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wis.
