Li Wins ECAC Title; Bomber Golf Places Third In Team Standings
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca College sophomore golfer Sharon Li won the individual championship and Merrimack won the team title at the 2013 ECAC Division II/III Women's Golf Championships, hosted by the Bombers at the Country Club of Ithaca.
Merrimack, the lone Division II team participating in the eight-team tournament field, won the team title with a score of 649, followed by New York University with a total of 679 and Ithaca at 682.
Li totaled 156 over the tournament's two rounds, tied with Merrimack's Jessica Ngui. Li won a sudden-death playoff on the second hole by chipping in for birdie at the par-3 second hole. Li posted a first-round score of 79 and shot 77 on Sunday, for the best round of the second day of competition.
Ithaca' Kelsey Baker placed 11th overall with scores of 87-83--170 and Amanda Failla was tied for 14th with a 93-83--176. The Bombers' scoring lineup was concluded by Jackie Young with rounds of 94-86. Paige Fontana posted 99-101--200.
Competing as an individual, senior Samantha Liberty posted a career-best second-round score of 83 and a two-day total 177 to place 16th overall. Taylor Reeves, also competing as an individual, was tied for 19th at 88-92--180.
