Ithaca Golfer Sharon Li Earns NCAA Bid

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca College women's golfer Sharon Li, a sophomore, has been invited to participate as an individual in the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships. The tournament field was announced Monday and the championship will be conducted May 14-17 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla. with Methodist University serving as tournament host.

A total of 21 teams were selected to participate -- 11 automatic qualifiers and 10 at-large selections, along with six other individuals from non-selected teams. The championship will be conducted over 72 holes of stroke play, four rounds in four days.

Li has established herself as the most successful golfer in the four-year varsity history of the Bomber program. She owns the school records for lowest 18-hole score (70) as well as lowest 36-hole tournament score (143). She currently ranks fourth nationally in scoring average among qualified players via Golfstat with a stroke average of 77.18. She is the first player to earn an NCAA invitation in women's golf and won five tournaments as an individual this season, capturing honors at St. Lawrence, the Empire 8 Championship, Cortland, Amherst and the ECAC Division II/III Championship.
