Women's Lacrosse All-Conference and Yearly Award Winners Announced

The Empire 8 Athletic Conference has announced 2013 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference teams as voted on by the conference coaches. In addition, the Player of the Year, Goalie of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year have been selected.

2013 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team

Player of the Year: Tracy Rivas, Ithaca
Tracy Rivas repeated as the Empire 8 Player of the year. She became Ithaca's all-time leading scorer in goals and points this season. She concluded her career with 184 goals and 67 assist for 251 points. Her assists rank fourth all-time. Rivas led the Bombers with 57 goals, the third-most single-season scores in program history, and chipped in 20 assists for 77 points. She added 35 ground balls, 13 draws and eight caused turnovers. Six of her goals were game-winners. 

Goalie of the Year: Tara Prosak - Nazareth
Tara Prosak played in all 17 games for the Golden Flyers (9-8) in 2013 and amassed a conference-best 130 saves for a 9.10 goals-against average and a .522 save percentage. She had five games in which she produced double-digit save totals, including a career-best of 15 in a game at St. John Fisher April 13.

Rookie of the Year: Allison Runyon, Ithaca
Allison Runyon ranked second on the squad with 31 scores this season. She added five assists for 36 points. Playing in all 18 of the Bombers' games, and starting 14, Runyon collected 23 ground balls and forced eight turnovers.

Coaching Staff of the Year: Ithaca College
Shannon McHale and her staff has been named the 2013 E8 Women's Lacrosse Coaching Staff of the Year for the second consecutive season.  McHale also won the award in 2007 while coaching at St. John Fisher. The staff guided the Bombers to their second straight Empire 8 regular-season title with a flawless 7-0 league record.


One member of each team was named that institution’s representative on the 2013 Sportswoman of the Year Team.  Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete’s experience in conjunction with an institution’s educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
