ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Houghton baseball was able to add an extra game to their regular season schedule on Wednesday, but unfortunately the Highlanders were on the wrong end of a 15-1 game at Rochester Institute of Technology.

The Tigers scored twice in the third and added a single run in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead before the Highlanders got one back in the top of the fifth. Michael Kerr (Hamburg, NY, Hamburg HS) singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch to get into scoring position. Christopher McKay (Oakville, ON, Canada) moved Kerr to third with a bunt single, before another wild pitch and a throwing error by the Tigers catcher brought Kerr home.

The Tigers got four hits and four runs in the bottom half of the fifth to push the advantage to 7-1, then exploded for seven runs on eight hits in the bottom of the seventh to put the game out of reach. The hosts added a single run in the bottom of the eighty for the final score.

McKay finished with three hits, while Kameron Konert (Bolivar, NY, Bolivar-Richburg CS) and Kaiden Bowers (Brantford, ON, Canada, Assumption College School) added two apiece.

RIT tallied 21 hits on the afternoon, with 10 coming off starting pitcher Jared Knowlton (Gouverneur, NY, Gouverneur HS)  Knowlton allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings. Kyle Flemington (Burlington, ON, Canada, Nelson HS) pitched two innings in relief, allowing four runs on six hits and two wild pitches. Jonathan DeDell (Woodstock, VT) allowed three hits and three runs but didn't record an out. Kaiden Bowers (Brantford, ON, Canada, Assumption College School) closed the game with an inning and a third of relief, allowing one run on two hits, while walking two.
