The Empire 8 Conference has reviewed voting for the 2013 Rookie of the Year and will be recognizing  Jayson Yano of Stevens Institute of Technology. Yano will share the award with Ithaca's Matt Connolly, who was previously honored in the first release on May 10. 

Yano was recognized as a second-team all-conference second-baseman and helped lead Stevens to a 23-18 overall record.

He put together a breakout rookie campaign at second base and finished the year with a .319 batting average in 40 starts. Yano ranked second on the team with 44 hits in 138 at bats and also scored 28 times. Yano swiped 15 bags and drove in 14 runs as the team's No. 5 hitter all season. Defensively, he only made two errors in 161 tries for a .988 fielding percentage.
