Ithaca Women's Soccer Team Ranked #10 in NSCAA Preseason

Defending national champion Messiah College retained its No. 1 ranking, followed by 2012 NCAA Championship finalist Emory College at No. 2 and final four member Wheaton (Ill.) at No. 3. Updated rankings will be published every Tuesday throughout the season, beginning Sept. 3.
The Bombers finished 2012 with a 19-1-3 record, tying the school mark for wins in a season and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen for the fifth time in six years.
In their 23rd NCAA appearance, the Bombers defeated UMass Boston, 5-1, in a the regional semifinal round; the largest margin of victory for Ithaca in an NCAA Tournament contest since the first round of the 2008 tournament. In the second round, the Bombers scored two goals in a come-from-behind fashion to defeat Bowdoin, 2-1, before tying Misericordia, 0-0, in the Sweet Sixteen. The Cougars advanced to the Elite Eight after posting a 6-5 edge in penalty kicks to end the Bombers' record-setting 2012 season.
Ithaca opens the season at the Kean Cougar Classic and will face the host on Saturday, Aug 30 and Richard Stockton on Sunday, Aug. 31. The Bombers home opener will feature No. 2 Emory on Saturday, September 7.
