Naz Opens 2013 with 2-0 Sweep as E8 Goes 5-6 on Friday
The 2013 women's volleyball season began on Friday and Empire 8 teams went 5-6.

Hartwick's volleyball team dropped its first two matches of the season on Friday at the Oneonta State Invitational at Dewar Arena. The Hawks lost three games to one to Kean University, 13-25, 25-21, 18-25, 18-25, in their opener. 'Wick fell in three sets to Potsdam, 18-25, 21-25, 17-25, in its second match.

The Ithaca College volleyball team (1-1) split a pair of matches Friday night at the DeSales Invitational to open its 2013 campaign. The Bombers first defeated Albright (0-2), 3-1 (25-23, 25-16, 20-25, 25-17), before dropping a four-set decision to Cabrini (2-0), 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-13, 25-23).

Nazareth opended the 2013 season with a pair of victories at the first day of the Red Dragon Volleyball Classic, hosted by Cortland. The Golden Flyers defeated Lebanon Valley in five sets by the scores of 25-22, 19-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-13 then knocked off Pitt-Bradford in four sets with the scores of 25-12, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22.
St. John Fisher v

The St. John Fisher volleyball team earned its first win of the season Friday after defeating SUNY Plattsburgh 3-1 in the second game of the RWU Invitational hosted by Roger Williams University.
The Cardinals took the first set 25-15, however Plattsburgh quickly evened the contest after narrowly taking the second set. Fisher would bounce back, taking the next two sets to ensure the win.
Fisher suffered a setback in its season-opener against Roger Williams University, losing earlier in the day by a score of 3-0.
Stevens v
Colby Sawyer
In the 2013 season opener at the United States Coast Guard Academy Tournament, Stevens Institute of Technology's women's volleyball team posted a 3-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer College on Friday evening in New London, Conn.
Stevens claimed the match by set scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-22, 25-17. The Ducks outhit Colby-Sawyer, .219 to .132, and used 25 Chargers' hitting errors to take the four-set affair. Stevens also used a strong fourth set with a .306 hitting percentage on 36 attempts with 13 kills and two errors.
