Stevens Upsets 12th-Ranked TCNJ

Stevens 4, TCNJ 3 (OT) (Box Score)
Senior captain Marguerite Chavez converted a penalty stroke with 3:17 to play as the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team earned a come-from-behind 4-3 win over No. 12 The College of New Jersey Saturday at the De Baun Athletic Complex.
 
The Chavez goal was her second of the game, and the Ducks were able to erase deficits of 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 before taking the lead for good in the 67th minute of action.
 
The win is the first in program history for Stevens over TCNJ.

Hartwick 3, Marywood 1 (Box Score)
The Hartwick field hockey team opened its 2013 season at home against the Pacers of Marywood University on Saturday afternoon at Wright Stadium. Despite two lightning delays in the second half, the Hawks held on to defeat the Pacers 3-1.

The Hawks dominated the game in every statistical category. Hartwick led the Pacers 16-3 in shots and 6-1 in penalty corners.

Ithaca 3, Brockport 2 (OT) (Box Score)
The Ithaca College field hockey team (2-0) scored just over three minutes into overtime to post a 3-2 win over visiting Brockport (0-1) on Saturday afternoon at Higgins Stadium. The visiting Golden Eagles tied the game in the final minute of the second half, but Lauren Delia scored on a rebound for the Bombers in overtime to give Ithaca the win.

Utica 8, Cedar Crest 1 (Box Score)
The Utica College field hockey team cruised to an 8-1 season-opening victory over Cedar Crest College at the St. Lawrence Tournament on Saturday.  Juniors Hannah Mackey and Chasity Eckert each netted two goals apiece to pace the Pioneers.

UC got on the board early as sophomore Colleen Dowling found the back of the net just 1:22 into the game.  Mackey padded the lead scoring two goals just 13 seconds apart and junior Adriana Surprenant  tallied a goal of her own to put UC up 4-0 less that ten minutes into the game. 

Kean 3, St. John Fisher 1 (Box Score)
The St. John Fisher College field hockey team fell behind early Saturday afternoon to Kean University, losing 3-1 in the Championship round of the Connie Harnum Classic.

The Cougars jumped out to a quick lead, scoring in the game's opening minutes on the strength of a corner penalty and added to its lead several minutes later to hold a 2-0 lead.

Kean controlled much of the tempo in the game's opening half until Stacie Skidmore was able to break through, scoring the Cardinals first and only goal in the game's 33 minute.
