UTICA
Sophomore standout Ashton Villeneuve of the Utica College women's cross country team won the women's  5K Saturday  at the 7th Annual SUNYIT Invitational with a time of 19:27. Villeneuve was the only runner to cross the line in less than 20 minutes. Senior Jaimee Balloni (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) placed second overall with a time of 24:44 and the Pioneers finished second in the team competition (12 teams competed).

UC finished with 62 total points on the afternoon.  Junior Rianne Erlwein placed 17th overall with a time of 21:43, while classmate Julie Bowler rounded out the top 20 finishers with a time of 21:57. 

Sophomore Sam Bennett came in two spots behind Bowler with a time of 21:57 and sophomore Sarah DePalma (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) registered a 24th place finish with a time of 22:03.

The top freshman finisher for Utica was Abby Schaible  who came in with a time of 22:45 to finish 38th overall.



STEVENS
 In the first meet of the 2013 season for Stevens Institute of Technology, the Ducks placed third overall at the Father O'Neill Invitational hosted by Fairfield University on August 31. Stevens was the lone NCAA Division III team that competed at the meet.

Senior Ashley Princiotta led the women with a fourth place showing. Thirty student-athletes took part in the women's portion of the race.

On the 4K course for the women, Princiotta clocked a time of 16:44.76 and was just seven seconds from the runner-up position. Freshman Kathleen Kalbian posted a sixth place finish in her first collegiate meet in a time of 17:00.49, while sophomore Kate Moyer narrowly missed the third top 10 finish, placing 12th at 17:24.36.

Freshman Kaela Earrusso posted a time of 18:04.23 for 17th overall, while freshman Sydney Slavik and sophomore Janice Frontera were 20th and 21st overall, respectively. Slavik finished in 18:20.18 and Frontera posted a time of 18:27.28.
