Behind a four-under-par round of 68 from senior Grant Gulick, the Royals won their fourth straight Utica title with a four-score total of 294, just six strokes over par at The Skenandoa Club Sunday afternoon.
Stevens Institute was second with 302, followed by Cobbleskill A (306), Elmira (308), Potsdam (311), Canton (319), Nazareth (322), Cobbleskill B (332), and Utica (340).
Gulick eclipsed his previous career-low round of 69 against Marywood University at the Scranton Municipal Golf Course in Mt. Cobb on September 21. His performance was also only one stroke shy of tying teammate Erik Meyer's school record of 67.
Meyer also came through with a big round today, firing an even-par 72, the 13th sub-80 round of his career.
Freshman Frank Szucs tied the Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf program record with a one-under 71 in his collegiate debut as the Ducks shot a team-record 302.
Szucs finished second individually, three strokes behind Scranton's Grant Gulick. The rookie matched 2009 graduate Tom Merriam's single-round record set in 2008 at the same course; no other Duck has ever shot lower than 73.
The team's combined total of 302 strokes broke the program's previous record of 307, set last September in the Penn State Harrisburg Classic at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course.
Szucs' round included four birdies, while junior Justin Niemeier carded a personal-best 74 as only the fifth Duck to ever break 75 in a single round.
Junior Evan Clarke led the Soaring Eagles by bringing in a 73 card, placing tied for fourth in a field of over 50 golfers. Freshman Ryan Siffermann carded a 77 in today's action, placing him tied for 11 overall. Elmira improved their overall team score (308) in their second tournament of the season, improving five strokes from yesterday's action where they competed in the Pitt-Bradford Invitational
