Fisher Ranked #19 in D3Football
The St. John Fisher football team remains in the
d3football.com top 25 poll after the first week of the season, the Website announced on Sept. 8. The Cardinals received 124 points and jumped five spots to No. 19.
Fisher scored two touchdowns in both halves and allowed just 14 rushing yards on 30 attempts, as the Cardinals posted a convincing 28-0 win over Otterbein University on Saturday.
The Cardinals are 10-2 in the last 12 years in season-opening games, with both losses coming in 2008 and 2009 to Mount Union.
The game marked the first time Fisher has posted a shutout in a season-opener since 2006. That year, Fisher finished with a 12-2 overall record and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Championship.
Fisher returns to action at 1 p.m. next Saturday and will host Washington & Jefferson College in the Cardinals' home opener. Last year, Fisher rallied from 10 points down in the fourth quarter to beat the Presidents, 28-24.
Buffalo State and Salisbury University were among teams also receiving votes.
