Hartwick 6, Morrisville 1 (

The Hartwick field hockey team scored four times in the second half to break open a close game as the Hawks came out with a 6-1 victory over Morrisville on Tuesday afternoon. Hartwick now evens its record at 2-2 while the Mustangs fall to 0-4 on the season.
The Hawks struck first just five minutes into the contest.
Holley Reynolds' shot was saved by Morrisville goalie Nicole Gregg but the rebound came back to
Sarah Ryan who took the rebound in for the score to give Hartwick the 1-0 lead.
The game would remain the same for much of the rest of the first half. In the 30
th minute,
Meghan Fay drove from the top of the circle and hit a shot that passed Gregg and into the box to move Hartwick ahead 2-0. The Mustangs would get on the board with 53 seconds left to play in the half on a goal by Rebecca Quakenbush. Hartwick dominated the half in shots,15-2.
In the second half, Ryan scored on a sweep with an assist from
Jessica Ott to put 'Wick ahead 3-1 in the 41
st minute. Ott then scored one of her own less than seven minutes later when her shot deflected off a Morrisville defender and into the goal.
Kelly Kramer tacked on two scores with one coming on a penalty stroke to complete the scoring.
Ryan scored twice on the day. Ott and Fay both tallied one score each with Fay's goal extending her scoring streak to three straight games. Reynolds tallied two assists and one defensive save.
Shannon Carter got the nod in goal and did not record a save.
Jilian Sabatino came in the second half and had one save. Gregg stopped 15 shots for the Mustangs.
RPI 3, St. John Fisher 1 (
Box Score)
The St. John Fisher College field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Tuesday evening. With the loss, Fisher falls to 2-3 overall, while RPI improves to 3-2.
In a fairly-even game (Fisher held an 18-17 advantage in shots taken with both teams taking six penalty corners), the Engineers took the lead for goad in the 10th minute. Rensselaer pushed its lead to 2-0 midway through the second half, but Fisher's
Elizabeth Cusack made it a one-goal game with just under five minutes left.
The Engineers, however, sealed the win with a goal in the closing moments. Goalie
Danielle Famolaro stopped three shots for the Cardinals.
Susquehanna 5, Elmira 1 (Box Score)
The Elmira College field hockey team (0-2) suffered their second consecutive road loss of the 2013 season, falling 5-1 to Susquehanna University (4-1).
Lauren Thomas recorded 14 saves on the night.
The Crusaders jumped on the Soaring Eagles early in the contest, scoring just 2:35 into the game off of a penalty corner. Susquehanna would continue to control the game and apply pressure on Thomas as they outshot Elmira 19-1 in the first 35 minutes. Two additional shots would find the back of the cage as the Crusaders would take a 3-0 lead into the intermission.
Despite facing a three-goal deficit, Elmira came out of the short break with the intent on making this a close game down the stretch. Just over two minutes into the second half, the Soaring Eagle offense had life as
Shannon Nelligan knocked in her first goal of the season. Fellow classmate,
McKenna Light, set up the goal off of EC's second penalty corner.
Susquehanna would answer right back with a goal four minutes later which all but killed the momentum that the Purple and Gold had built in the second half. The Crusaders would add a late goal to put the game officially out of reach. Time expired giving Susquehanna the 5-1 victory.
Elmira was outshot 35 to seven on the night and only won four penalty corners compared to the 10 that the Crusaders earned.
