Meyer's 1-Under-Par 70 Leads Royals Past Marywood and Baptist Bible
MOOSIC, Pa.—Junior
Erik Meyer fired a one-under-par 70 to lead The University of Scranton men’s golf team to victories over Marywood University, 307-322, and Baptist Bible College, 307-374, at Glenmaura National Golf Club Monday afternoon.
The Royals, now 3-0, also received a 75 and a 79 from senior co-captains
Grant Gulick and
Charles Hudacek, respectively, and junior
Josh Jimenez rounded out Scranton’s top four scores with an 83.
Freshman
Kevin Nardella and senior
Andrew Loyack also competed for the Royals today and shot 86 and 90, respectively.
Meyer’s round of 70 was a season-best and lowers his stroke per round average to 72.66.
Freshman Michael Thomas (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) paced Marywood with a one-over-par 72 and junior Devan Crowley (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) and sophomores Shane Davis (Glenside, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) and Dalton Deardorff (Cashtown, Pa./Delone Catholic) followed with rounds of 80, 84, and 86, respectively. Sophomore John Lawless (Dunmore, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) and senior Paul Kania (Moosic, Pa./Riverside) shot 91 and 92, respectively.
For the Defenders, freshman Luke Peterson (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) fired a 73 and senior Jordan Greve (Arcanum, Ohio./Arcanum) carded an 89. Sophomore Spencer Fountain (York, Maine) was next with a 102, followed by freshman Ryan Miller (Inwood, West Va./Musselman) and sophomore Drew Burtis (Endwell, NY/Faith Heritage) with 110 and 111, respectively.
The Royals will return to action this Thursday, September 12, at the Moravian Fall Invitational to be held at Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville, Pennsylvania, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
