Alfred Outlasts Hilbert

The Alfred University men’s soccer team picked up their first home victory on Merrill Field, Tuesday evening, with a 3-1 victory over visiting Hilbert College.
Controlling the tempo most of the game, the Saxons held a 15-11 shot advantage along with a five to three corner kick advantage. Senior midfielder Zachary Kranefeld struck first for AU at the 31st minute, netting a header served by freshman midfielder Richard Lander. Sophomore midfielder Omar Mohamed scored off a penalty kick in the 43rd minute, giving the Saxons a 2-0 lead at the half.
Freshman defender James Piombino connected with Lander for a goal at the 73rd minute to secure the Saxon win.
Senior goalie Samuel Guy and senior Jacob Bird each played a half in net for AU, with two and five saves.
Hobart 2, St. John Fisher 1 (

The St. John Fisher College (2-3) men's soccer team couldn't hold an early lead, as the Hobart College Statesmen came from behind to claim a 2-1 win Tuesday night at Cozzens Field in Geneva, NY.
After a scoreless first half of play,
Matt Silvi gave the visiting Cardinals a 1-0 lead when he one-timed a
Danny Yancone pass from the top of the box in the game's 51
st minute.
The lead would be short lived however, as only eight minutes later, Hobart leveled the score at one goal apiece. The Statesmen scored the go-ahead goal in the 62
nd minute and would hang on for the win despite a late corner kick opportunity that the Cardinals could not convert.
Hobart kept
Kyle Metcalfe on his toes, firing 17 shots at the junior goaltender, six of which were recorded as saves.
Oneonta 4, Elmira 0 (

The Elmira College men's soccer team (2-1) dropped a 4-0 decision on the road today against two-time defending SUNYAC champion Oneonta State Red Dragons (2-2). Elmira's
Nick Lapinski recorded seven saves in today's road loss.
The Soaring Eagles had their hands full with the Red Dragons, who were ranked 24th in the nation according to the NSCAA preseason coaches poll. EC was outshot 22-to-5 but of Elmira's five shots, three made their way on frame compared to only seven for Oneonta. However, Oneonta would make the most of their opportunities as they scored three goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Elmira's defense turned things around in the second half as they held the Red Dragons to only one goal in the half.
