Hartwick Cruises Past Fighting Tigers, 9-0

Six different players scored for Hartwick as the women's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season with a 9-0 triumph over visiting SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday night at Elmore Field. Hartwick improves to 1-1-2 on the year while the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-4.

The nine goals scored by the Hawks are the most since 2006 when 'Wick had 10 scores against Randolph College. Allyson Daniels had a hat trick to lead Hartwick. Cami Cleaveland added a pair of scores. Angela Luizzi, Megan McGillycuddy, Jayme Bentley and Kylie Thayer  all scored once. Luizzi also had two assists.

The Hawks totaled 28 shots in the game with 15 of those on goal. Hartwick also had six corner kicks.

'Wick was up 7-0 in the first half. Cleaveland got the scoring started just over six minutes into the contest and added her second of the night three minutes later. Beginning in the 19th minute, the Hawks went on a scoring spree with five scores in a 20 minute span.

Hope Brown got the start in goal and logged 33:24 of game time. She was relieved by Annie Millar who played the final 56:36. Neither player faced a shot.

Amanda Wallace stopped five shots for the Fighting Tigers in goal. She was replaced by Hayley MacLean in the second half and she had one save.


Utica 2, D'Youville 2 (Box Score)
The Utica College women's soccer team got back on track as it tied host D'Youville College, 2-2, in a non-conference match Tuesday night.

The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead at 1:28 as senior Samantha Matthews scored off a header, assisted by classmate Sarah Southwell
D'Youville battled back as it was able to net goals in the 31st and 40th minute.  However, an own goal by the Torjans in the 63rd minute knotted the game for the Pioneers.  Despite an extra 30 minutes of play, neither team was able to score the winner. 

Freshman Jamie Enders made seven saves in 81 minutes of work, while sophomore Kelly Heimerle  had one save in 29 minutes in net.  D'Youville's Christina Ventresca made seven saves in net for the Trojans.
