ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team volunteered time during its busy preseason to Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade retailer located in The Commons.

The team assisted with clean-up efforts, rolling and loading rugs into trucks, following Ten Thousand Villages' Ninth Annual Oriental Rug Event. It is a touring rug sale of approximately 40 events. The Ithaca store had record sales in 2013, to rank first in sales within the organization, outselling several major metropolitan stores.

Families in Pakistan will benefit from the store's success allowing many rugs to be put on looms this winter, providing steady work for many months.

The ninth-ranked Bombers are off to a 3-0 start, most recently blanking second-ranked Emory, 2-0, at Carp Wood Field Saturday. Ithaca will compete at the William Smith Tournament Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14-15.
