The 2013  Empire 8 Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship will take place this weekend with the conference team championship on the line. Individual Empire 8 medalist honors will also be up for grabs at the two-day, 36-hole event, which will be held Saturday and Sunday at Blue Heron Hills Course in Macedon, NY.

The top five scorers at the end of the tournament will earn first-team all-conference honors with the next five finishers being named to the second team.

Again in 2013, the conference championship conversation starts with Ithaca College, winner of the last three Empire 8 titles. The Bombers enter the Championship with four players on the roster from last years championship lineup. Headlining the all-star cast is junior Sharon Li, the 2012 Empire 8 Player-of-the-Year. Li won the E8 championship by nine strokes and continued to have a stellar season, resulting in an individual bid to participate in the 2013 NCAA tournament where she tied for 10th place out of 111 golfers.

St. John Fisher will have to do without three-time all-conference player, Katie Joslyn due to graduation. Jenna Kramer and Alexa Juda return to lead the way for a young Cardinal line-up.

Senior Briana MacDonald returns to lead the way for Elmira. She did not compete at the 2012 championship but placed 13th in 2011 and will be looking to move up the leader board.

Sophomore Jennifer Lachell and Meghan Porter are the top returners for Nazareth. Lachell and Porter were second team All-Conference selections last season and will be in the mix for a repeat honor.

In the team competition, Ithaca is the favorite again by the numbers. Last season, Ithaca's team score of 679 placed ahead of Nazareth (800), Elmira (936) and St. John Fisher (1013).
