Elmira, Hartwick, Ithaca and Stevens Win in Empire 8 Play

The Hartwick women's tennis team picked up its first Empire 8 win of the season as it cruised 9-0 over Alfred on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks even their record at 2-2 while the Saxons fall to 1-4.
The Hawks dropped only one set all day. The duo of
Ruthie Jones and
Nicole Schepisi picked up their first win of the season in first doubles with an 8-5 victory over Brennan Ferguson and Emily Eisenberger.
Jones also picked up her first win in first singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Ferguson.
Rebecca Clark needed an extra set in the third flight but came out with a 6-2, 6-7, 7-4 victory against Eisenberg.
Schepisi,
Kristen Napolitano, and
Caitlin O'Brien all moved to 3-1 on the year with wins in second, fourth, and fifth singles. Schepisi prevailed 6-2, 6-2 over Rachel Cook, Napolitano was victorious against Elexandra Smith, 6-3, 6-1, and O'Brien won over Bethany Dickerson, 6-0, 6-0.
Elmira 9, Utica 0 (

The Elmira College women's tennis team (2-1, 2-1 E8) picked up their second Empire 8 Conference win of the season as they blanked Utica College (0-5, 0-4 E8), 9-0. Elmira dominated today's match, winning 96 of 106 games played.
EC took an early 3-0 lead in today's match after sweeping the doubles matches.
Amy Schmidt '15 and
Kayla Fitzgerald '15 teamed up for their first win of the season as they pieced together an 8-5 victory at first doubles. Elmira's second and third doubles teams would win their matches by identical scores of 8-0.
Elmira's dominance continued in singles as the Purple and Gold won 72 of 77 games played to give EC the 9-0 win. Schmidt, Fitgerald,
Ayaka Yoshino '16, and
Danielle Levine '17 were all double-winners today, earning victories in both singles and doubles.
Ithaca 9, Nazareth 0 (

The Ithaca College women's tennis team continued its dominant start to the season with a 9-0 win over Nazareth on Saturday afternoon at Glazer Arena in Ithaca. The Bombers improved to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in Empire 8 play. Nazareth is 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
The Bombers started the match with a sweep of the three doubles points as the tandems of
Cristina Nunez and
Haley Kusak,
Marni Blumenthal and
Carly Siegel, and
Alyssa Steinweis and
Allison Vizgaitis were victorious. Nunez, Kusak, Vizgaitis, Siegel and Steinweis also won in singles action, along with
Allison Young.

Jessica Bourque broke the all-time doubles wins record to highlight a 9-0 victory for the Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team at St. John Fisher College Saturday.
WIth the win, the Ducks moved to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
Tessitore and Bourque now have 34 wins as a team, unseating Whitney Bender and Rebecca Ryba as program leaders
The third doubles team of freshman
Lily Bruenjes and sophomore Arden Servido earned a hard-fought 8-6 win over Rosalie O'Brien and Alissa Cornacchia, while Bourque and Tessitore cruised 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Sandwiched in the middle was junior
Danielle Stewart and junior
Elena Cocineva-Lenge who cruised to an 8-1 second double triumph over Lauren Burke and Abbey Buscaglia.
Bourque earned a No. 1 singles win over Katie Pasier, 6-1, 6-3, with Tessitore coasting to a 6-1, 6-2 margin over Sani Zaki at No. 2. Stewart was next at third singles, earning a tough 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 victory over Buscaglia, while Cocineva-Lenge won 6-1, 6-3 in the fourth flight.
Freshman
Jillian Morneau was at fifth singles for the Ducks, tallying another hard-fought win, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 over O'Brien, while Bruenjes went 6-2, 6-4 at the six spot.
