Hartwick 1, Bard 0 (Box Score)
Kylie Thayer scored on a free kick in the 73rd minute and that was all Hartwick needed as the women's soccer team defeated Bard on Wednesday night at Elmore Field. The Hawks, who have now won three in a row, improve to 3-1-2 while the Raptors fall to 2-3-1.

Following a foul on the Raptors, the Hawks were awarded a free kick 20 yards in front of the goal. Thayer calmly hit the shot and the ball sailed into the top left corner of the net to give Hartwick the 1-0 lead and eventual win.

'Wick led the first half in shots 6-1 but could not find the net. On two Thayer corner kicks, one in the 18th minute and the other in the 31st minute, Mary Morrison tried to head the ball in but her shot went high above the goal and out of play.

Early in the second half, the Raptors nearly took the lead when Gina Lewis glanced the ball off of her foot and it bounced off of the goalpost. After Hartwick went ahead, Sylvia Cool hit a shot that was knocked down by Hartwick goalie Hope Brown. Later in the 86th minute, Abbey Labreque took a misplayed ball by Morrison and hit a point blank shot that Brown leaped to coral in.

The Hawks finished the contest with a 13-6 advantage in shots. Hartwick also led in corner kicks, 8-2.

Brown picked up her second shutout of the season while turning away three shots. Bard's Kelsey O'Brien stopped five shots for the Raptors.

Utica 5, SUNYIT 1 (Box Score)
The Utica College women's soccer team got back in the win column Wednesday afternoon as it downed cross-town rival, SUNYIT, 5-1.  Junior Jenna Hughes led the Pioneers with two goals and two assists.

Despite a number of scoring chances in the first 30 minutes of play, the Pioneers could not solve Wildcat goal keeper, Margaret Werenczek.  In the 33rd minute, senior Sarah Southwell was able to break the deadlock for her second goal of the season.  Southwell dribbled down the right side of the field and put a hard shot on net.  Werenczek made the initial save, and stopped Hughes on the rebound, but was unable to stop Southwell's follow up attempt, and the Pioneers took a 1-0 lead.

Just three minutes later, senior Samantha Matthews scored her second of the year, also assisted by Hughes.  Hughes fired a long shot on goal from the right side that Werenczek deflected right to Matthews who blasted the ball into the open net.  Back-to-back goals by Hughes gave UC a four-goal cushion heading into halftime.

The Wildcats were able to get on the board in the 73rd minute as Kendra Wagstaff netted her second of the year, unassisted, however sophomore Kelly Heimerle shut the door the rest of the game.  Utica capped off the scoring at 81:06 as freshman Elizabeth Feigum netted her first collegiate goal, off a pass from senior Deanna Didio.  Didio sent a great centering feed into the box that Feigum placed just inside the left post to put UC up 5-1.

Junior Alana Fitzpatrick added an assist and Jamie Enders and Heimerle combined for four saves in the win, while Werenczek made 13 saves in the loss.    Utica improves to 2-3-2 on the year, while the Wildcats drop to 0-5.

Farmingdale State 2, Stevens 1 (Box Score)
The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Farmingdale State College at the De Baun Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, Stevens is now 2-4 on the season, while Farmingdale State improves to 4-3.

Stevens had an early opportunity to tally the first goal of the match off a corner kick from junior Mariah Cleveland. Cleveland set up her service into the box with a bending shot which hooked all the way to the goal line but was cleared away by a Farmingdale defender in the 10th minute.

The Ducks would strike first in the match on a free kick from freshman Gabby Mathelier from 23 yards out in the 38th minute. Mathelier's blast deflected off the left post and into net to beat a sprawling Ashley Monzillo.

Farmingdale State answered back with over two minutes left in the first half to knot the game up at 1-1 on a through ball from Alexis Caracappa that led Ashlee Thompson past the Ducks' defense.

Sophomore Leah Spaulding played the first half for Stevens but did not make a save before being replaced by Evelyn Ting. Ting suffered the loss and made one save.

The Rams put the contest away in the 85th minute on a deep shot from the right corner of the 18-yard box by Sam Johrden that bounced off the left post and into the net.

Stevens held a slim, 11-10, edge in shots but Farmingdale was awarded four corners to just two for the Ducks.
