Men's golf teams from around the Empire 8 will head up to New Hartford, N.Y. to compete in the fall portion of the E8 Conference Championship held at Yahnundasis Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 21-22).

The Empire 8 Championship will be decided over four rounds for an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Championship which takes place from May 14-17. Two rounds of the conference tournament take place this weekend at Yahnundasis and the other two rounds will be played in the spring at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa. in late April.

After winning last year's conference title – St. John's Fisher’s has won eight of the past nine championships - the Cardinals enter the opening two rounds of the Championships as the No. 7 ranked team in the nation with four of its 2012-13 All-Empire 8 selections back on the roster.  Head coach Bob Simms’ team won last year's title by 63 shots, and with its star-studded lineup back, Fisher enters the weekend as the favorite.

Fisher will have to compete Elmira College, Houghton College, Moravian College, Nazareth College, the University of Scranton, Stevens Institute of Technology, Susquehanna University and Utica College.

Several of the Empire 8’s top contenders have taken a step forward throughout the month of September, and if they can elevate their games on the conference’s biggest stage this weekend at Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, anything is possible.
