Elmira 9, Houghton 0 (Box Score)
The Elmira College women's tennis team (3-1, 2-1 E8) posted a 9-0 victory this afternoon over the Highlanders of Houghton College (2-6).  With the victory, the EC women have won three matches a row and are off to the program's best start in the last 14 years.

Elmira had another strong start to today's match, winning all three doubles matches to take a commanding 3-0 lead into singles play.  EC dropped just two games in all three doubles matches.

In singles, the Purple and Gold continued their dominance by winning 72 of 79 games played.  Amy Schmidt '15, Kayla Fitzgerald '15, Ayaka Yoshino '16, and Danielle Levine '17 were all double-winners, earning victories in both singles and doubles. 


Nazareth 8, Alfred 1 (Box Score)
Nazareth made short work of Alfred Wednesday in an Empire 8 Conference women's tennis match as the Golden Flyers swept all three doubles contests on their way to an 8-1 victory.

Nazareth improved to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in conference matches. Alfred is 1-6 overall and 0-5 in the Empire 8.

Seniors Alison Tepas and Krista Pagan each won matches at both singles and doubles as did junior Elizabeth Crane, sophomore Ami Petosa and freshman Jean McCarthy.

The closest match was at third doubles, where McCArthy and Petosa won 8-6 over Alfred's twosome of Alison Celmente and Bethany Dickerson.


Stevens 9, Drew 0 (Box Score)
The Stevens Institute of Technology women's tennis team improved to 6-0 overall, defeating visiting Drew University by a 9-0 final Wednesday in Hoboken.
 
The 9-0 victory is the third-straight by the same final for Stevens. The Ducks have won 46-of-53 total individual matches – doubles and singles combined – this season.
 
Junior Jessica Bourque and senior Lisa Tessitore  cruised at No. 1 doubles, 8-1,  and junior Danielle Stewart and junior Elena Coineva-Lenge earned an 8-5 victory at second doubles.
 
The Rangers (0-1) forfeited third doubles as well as sixth singles, giving Stevens a 2-0 lead to start and a 4-0 lead after doubles.
 
Bourque rolled to a clean-sheet win at No. 1 singles against Sofia Madrigal, and Tesstiore eased past Jessica Cheng 6-1, 6-2. Stewart downed Deanna Williams 7-5, 6-1 in the third slot, with Cocineva-Lenge earning a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 4. Freshman Jillian Morneau went 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles to close out the competition on the day.
 
Of the seven matches played, the Ducks won 87 points and only dropped 25.


Union 6, Hartwick 3 (Box Score)
The Hartwick women's tennis team traveled to face Union in a non-conference match and despite some hard fought decisions, the Hawks succumbed to the Dutchwomen 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon. Hartwick falls to 2-4 overall while Union moves to 2-0.

In doubles competition, the duo of Rebecca Clark and Michaela Finnegan won in second doubles over the pair of Kate Collins and Margaret Oppenheim 9-7. In first doubles,Ruthie Jones and Nicole Schepisi  nearly pulled off a comeback as the duo fought back from down 6-1 but eventually fell 8-5.

Jones won in singles play at first flight over Natalia Pronchick 6-4, 7-5. Clark also picked up a win in the third flight with a 6-3, 6-3 (10-6) victory over Oppenheim.
