Bombers Win At Susquehanna; W&J Falls to Shenandoah

Ithaca 2, Susquehanna 1 (Box Score)
The Ithaca College field hockey team (6-1, 1-0) defeated Susquehanna (5-3, 0-0) Sunday afternoon, dropping the Crusaders by a score of 2-1. Seniors Emily Lash and Katie Kennedy scored for the Bombers, while freshman Katie Lass recorded a career-high 18 saves.

Susquehanna started the game on fire, outshooting the Bombers by a 20-2 margin in the opening frame. The Crusaders got on the board first, scoring a goal on a penalty stroke in the 28th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The Bombers responded in the second half, evening the contest in the 44th minute. Lash scored her first goal of the season directly off a penalty corner, with assists going to senior Lindsay Flanagan and sophomore Olivia Salindong.

With just under two minutes remaining in the game, Kennedy scored on another feed from Salindong to put the Bombers up, 2-1. Kennedy's goal marked her fifth tally of the season and secured the victory for Ithaca.


Shenandoah 2, W&J 0 (Box Score)

Kelani Bailey scored both Shenandoah goals as the Hornets defeated Washington & Jefferson 2-0 in field hockey non-conference action Sunday afternoon. 

Bailey struck first 11 minutes in and then added her second tally five minutes into the second half.  The Hornets (4-4) outshot the Presidents (6-3) by a 16-10 margin, but sophomore goalie Morgan Brozena (Telford, Pa./Souderton) kept W&J in the match by totaling eight saves.Sarah Clare made six stops for the Hornets.
