Fisher Leads by Nine After Second Round

The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's golf team has a nine-shot lead after the second of four rounds in the Empire 8 Conference Championship.  The Cardinals shot a 300 on Saturday and a 306 on Sunday at Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford to give them a 36-hole total of 606 and leads University of Scranton by nine strokes (615).

Elmira College is three strokes behind Scranton in third place at 618, followed by Susquehanna University (620), Stevens Institute (634), Moravian College (645), Nazareth College (666), and Utica College (689).

Thad Wier carded a 74 on Sunday for a two round score of 147 and currently holds a three-stroke lead over Elmira's Evan Clarke (75-75-150) and Kyle Hyde (74-76-150).

Scranton's Eric Montella is tied with St. John Fisher’s Hogan Cuny for fourth place (151) and Erik Meyer is in a three-way tie for sixth place at 152.  Meyer is tied with Ryan Bruvik of Susquehanna and James Sergeant of Nazareth. 

The final 36 holes of competition in the Empire 8 Conference championships will be held at the East Course at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on April 18-19, 2014.
