Elmira Wins Fall Invitational

Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College men's golf team won their first event of the fall season as they claimed first place at the EC Fall Invitational. Elmira's
Evan Clarke '15 was today's medalist, shooting a 73 (+1) en route to his third title of his career and second of the fall season.
Today's invitational was played at Elmira College's home golf course, the Elmira Country Club, and featured nine teams from seven different institutions. EC had two teams compete today, along with two individual golfers who competed for individual honors.
Clarke, today's first place finisher, is coming off a tremendous week in which he earned Empire 8 Golfer of the Week honors after finishing as the tournament medalist at the Oswego State Invitational and tying for second in the first installment of the Empire 8 Championship. Today's title marks the second time he has won the EC Invitational; last year Clarke won the EC Spring Invitational.

Bryce Hanson '14 had one of his better showings of the fall season as he placed tied for fifth with a score of 78 (+6). Hanson was followed by classmate
Kyle Hyde '14, who, turned in an 80 (+8) card this afternoon while rookies
Ryan Siffermann '17 and
Brandon Payne '17 posted scores of 83 (+11) and 87 (+15) respectively.
Playing on Elmira's B team,
Jarryd ten Vaanholt '16 had a great showing this afternoon. The West Vancouver native posted a 77 (+5), tying his career best score which was good enough to place him tied for third which is also a career best.
The EC men will have almost two weeks to prepare for their next event as they travel to compete in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship on Saturday, October 5th.
