Nazareth goes 1-1 at Flower City Tournament

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's tennis team competed at the annual Flower City Tournament over the weekend and split a pair of matches. The Golden Flyers lost to RIT Saturday, 5-0, then rebounded to defeat St. John Fisher on Sunday, 8-1.

In the Fisher match, sophomore Tyler Williams won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 at first singles and also teamed with senior Erik Manske for a 9-7 win at first doubles. Manske also earned a point at fourth singles with a 6-0,. 6-1 win.

Nazareth also got singles wins from senior Nick Lord, sophomore Brian Rosiek and freshman Christian Bryant. Lord and Rosiek teamed up for a point at third doubles, while junior Matt Jennings and sophomore Scott Trobert won at second doubles.

Against RIT, the closest match was at first doubles, where Manske and Willliams lost to RIT's Kevin Layer and Ben Lynaugh 9-8 with a 7-3 tiebreaker.
