HOUGHTON, N.Y.—
The home court advantage was not enough in the Houghton men's tennis season opener as the Highlanders played to a 5-4 loss against Penn State Behrend on Saturday.  It was the program's first home match.

Houghton won three of the singles games and one of the doubles games.

In singles games, the number one spot, Brennen Campbell (Perry NY, Perry) defeated Guillermo Guillen (6-2, 6-4).  Daniel Hammers rolled past J. Kogler (6-4, 6-1) in the fifth spot while Caleb Parker knocked off J. Kowasky (1-6, 6-3, 10-8) in the final spot for singles play.

In doubles play the men had only one victory led by Brennan Campbell and Matthew James, who defeated G. Guillen and J. Mony (8-4).

"The men gave a solid showing against a seasoned team that has won more than 20 previous conference championships," said Head Coach Charlie Ellis.
