E8 Teams Compete at William Smith

Empire 8 teams competed at the William Smith Invitational held at Clifton Springs Country Club over the weekend. The opening round was shortened to nine holes due to rainy weather and wet course conditions. The tournament's second round was played in its entirety.
The St. John Fisher College women's golf team shot a 422 on Sunday and placed third overall at the William Smith Invitational. The Cardinals, who carded a 217 through nine holes on a rain-shortened round on Saturday, finished the tournament at 639. Elmira had a team-card of 645 to finish fourth overall. Nazareth had just two competitors for Saturday's nine-hole competition, so the Golden Flyers didn't qualify for the team scoring. The four members of the Bomber team competed as individuals and did not record a team score.
Nazareth sophomore
Meaghan Porter shot 45 Saturday, then returned Sunday to shoot 91 to finish with a total score of 136 to finish in a tie for third place individually with Ithaca's Taylor Reeves (46-90). She finished just three strokes behind LeMoyne's Emily Stickel, who took medalist honors.
St. John Fisher's Ceilia Fitzgerald placed fifth overall at 137 (45-92), while Ithaca's
Taylor MacDonald posted 47-94 for a 141 that tied for sixth overall.
Mary Rooker finished 10th in her collegiate debut with scores of 49 and 98 for 147.
Eileen Oaks placed 13th with a total of 150.
Elmira freshman
Keira Glasheen '17 led the Soaring Ealges after shooting a 56 on day one and a 101 on day two to give her an overall score of 157 to finish 15th overall.
Checking in next was Elmira's
Giovanna DeLoca after she notched in a 56 on day one and a 107 on day two to have a total score of 163 to finish tied for 20th overall with Fisher's Jenna Kramer (51-112).
