The doubles team of
Kristen Napolitano and
Lauren Noyes moved to 6-3 overall with their 8-0 win over the pair of Elizabeth Pape and Sara Hanrahan. Napolitano and Noyes raise their E8 record to 4-2. The first doubles duo of

Elmira 9, Alfred 0 (
Box Score)
The Elmira College women's tennis team (5-1, 4-1 E8) extended their win streak to five Tuesday afternoon as they swept visiting Alfred University, 9-0. The five-match win streak is the longest since at least the 2001 season and with the win today, the 2013 edition of EC women's tennis has all but locked up a berth into the Empire 8 Tournament.
Elmira got off to a fast start, sweeping all three doubles points from the Saxons. Second and third doubles took care of their opponents rather easily, winning 8-0 and 8-2 respectively. The first doubles team of
Amy Schmidt '15 and
Kayla Fitzgerald '15 found themselves in a battle with the Alfred first doubles team, but they held together and pulled out an 8-6 victory.
The singles matches were much of the same as EC would win all six against the Saxons. Fitzgerald was the first to finish her singles match, winning 6-0, 6-2. Her doubles partner followed close behind as Schmidt defeated the Alfred number one singles player, 6-4, 6-2 and clinched the match for the Soaring Eagles. Newcomer,
Danielle Levine '17, picked up win number six for EC after closing out a 6-2, 6-4 victory at third singles.
Recently named Empire 8 Player of the Week,
Ayaka Yoshino '16, faced a challenging opponent today in Rachel Cook, but she held tough for the 6-2, 7-5 victory, extending her overall win streak to 10 in the process. Just minutes after Yoshino walked off the court,
Ellen Plowman '16 followed suit after rolling her opponent, 6-2, 6-1.
The last match on the court was, fittingly, the sixth singles match. It was senior day for EC and the lone senior on the team,
Micah Moskoff '14, was starting in the sixth spot today. The fourth-year player certainly made her last match in the Murray Athletic Center one to remember. She won a close first set, 6-4, but later found herself in a 6-6 tie in the second set. With the match potentially on the line, the captain upped her game and took over the tiebreaker, winning it 7-4.
