Houghton 2, Point Park 0
The Highlander men's soccer team overcame a 4.5 hour bus ride and sluggish start to earn a 2-0 victory over former American Mideast Conference foe Point Park University on the road Wednesday.

The Pioneers pressured the Highlanders early and just missed on several scoring opportunities, including a shot off the pipe. Houghton had their own shot just miss when Cory Martin ripped a 15 yard shot off the far post midway through the half. Point Park held an 8-7 advantage in shots in the opening stanza.

Houghton made some adjustments and found their legs in the second half to turn the game in their advantage. They outshot the Pioneers 10-4 after the break and finally found the back of the net in the 70th minute on a 25-yard John Carpenter free kick that looped over the wall and just under the crossbar. Carpenter had a role in the second Highlander goal just eight minutes later, serving up a perfectly place free kick to the head of Paul Seddon, who knocked it down for Landon Sheaffer to put away.

Jacob Dunnett earned his fifth clean sheet of the season and improved his record to 6-0-1 on the year. He made five saves on the afternoon.
