Washington & Jefferson 1, Hartwick 0 (Box Score)
Washington and Jefferson's Gina Taglieri scored the game's only goal with less than six minutes to play in the second half as the host Presidents defeated Hartwick 1-0 on Saturday morning at Cameron Stadium. The Hawks drop to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the Empire 8 while W&J improves to 8-3 and 1-1 in the E8.

Hartwick held its own despite being outshot 25-1 in the contest. The Presidents held a 17-0 advantage in penalty corners.

Shannon Carter kept 'Wick in the game with 11 stops in the cage. It was her third straight start with double-digit saves. Catie SantanielloHalle Mahoneyand Meghan Fay all had defensive saves for the Hawks.

'Wick's only shot on the day came from Hiliary Carlson just seven seconds before halftime. Amanda Steffey had seven shots with six of those coming on goal to lead the Presidents.


St. John Fisher 3, Elmira 0 (Box Score)
The St. John Fisher College field hockey team picked up a pivotal win on Saturday, as the Cardinals recorded a 3-0 victory over host Elmira College in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.

Fisher took a 1-0 lead at the half, as freshman Bailee Barrett scored off a pass from Stacie Skidmore. The Cardinals pushed their lead to 2-0 early in the second half, as Skidmore picked up her second assist of the game, with Elizabeth Cusack scoring the goal.

Noelle Knox sealed the win with just under 10 minutes remaining, scoring off her own rebound.

Goalie Danielle Famolaro stopped six shots, marking her third shutout of the year.

Lauren Thomas made nine saves in goal for the Soaring Eagles.


Stevens 3, Ithaca 2 (Box Score)
Senior forward Rachel Chavez scored two goals to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team to a 3-2 Empire 8 win at Ithaca College Saturday afternoon.
 
Stevens completed dominated the stat-sheet, ending the contest with a 22-2 margin in penalty corners, a 43-6 edge in shots and a 33-3 advantage in shots on goal.
 
Freshman Emily Stukenborg made one save to earn the win in goal, while her counterpart, Ithaca freshman Katie Lass, denied 30 Stevens attempts in an excellent performance for the Bombers (6-2 overall, 1-1 Empire 8).
 
Senior forward Marguerite Chavez put the Ducks on the board in the 10th minute, recording her second penalty-stroke goal in as many outings. It was her ninth marker of the season and came when a Stevens shot hit a defenders foot after a scuffle in front.
 
Rachel Chavez recorded her first of the day and second of the season late in the first half thanks to a helper from sophomore midfielder Erin Silvestri. The play came on a penalty corner in which Silvestri took a shot from the top of the circle and Chavez re-directed it in,
 
Ithaca answered moments later, and the two teams went into the locker room with the scoreboard showing Stevens 2, Ithaca 1.
 
Rachel Chavez tallied again 10:23 into the second period to put the Ducks on top 3-1, seemingly pushing the game out of reach for an Ithaca team that was struggling to generate any kind of offensive attack. Chavez was in the right spot at the right time, hammering home a rebound after a Lass save.
 
The Bombers were able to score their second goal on just their third shot on net of the afternoon with 13:59 on the clock, but Stevens was able to maintain possession and do enough defensively to seal the team's fifth-straight win and second in the conference. The Ducks were also able to ward off an Ithaca penalty corner as time expired.


Utica 6, Nazareth 1 (Box Score)
The Utica College field hockey team used six straight goals to top Nazareth College 6-1 in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.  Four different players registered multiple points on the day for the Pioneers.

Junior Hannah Mackey opened the scoring at 7:45 as she netted her team-leading eighth goal of the season, unassisted.  Classmate Louise Steele-Norton added two goals in 1:25, both assisted by sophomore Colleen Dowling, to add to the UC lead. 

The Pioneers carried their momentum into the second half as senior Jessica Franklin found the back of the net for her third of the season.  Franklin controlled a rebound off an Alaina Stojkovski shot and was able to put one passed Nazareth goalie, Shannon Winney.  Just 1:13 later, junior Becki Vivacqua got in on the action as she deflected a ball in out of mid air for her fourth goal of the year.  Mackey assisted on the play.  Sophomore Olivia Plaisted capped off the scoring for Utica at 55:24 as she ripped a shot off a pass from Stojkovski on a set piece.

The Golden Flyers were able to get on the board in the 61st minute as Kristina Back put in a rebound off of Jordan Ritchie's shot for her third of the season. 

Kells Casey made four saves in 55 minutes of action, before Olivia Cunningham came in for the final 14:36.  Shannon Winney had seven saves and allowed five goals in 48:56 minutes of work for Naz, before Mary Greco stepped in for the final 21:04.  Greco had one save and allowed one goal in relief.
