The Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team earned a 3-0 Empire 8 Conference victory over Utica College on Saturday afternoon in Utica, N.Y. Three difference Ducks scored in the win to lift Stevens to a 4-5 overall record and 1-0 in the Empire 8.
Stevens notched the game-winner in the 17th minute of play as freshman
Raba Nassif found senior
Bridgette Barden wide open on the doorstep of the goal for the tally. The score is Barden's third goal of the season and it is also the third assist for Nassif on the year.
The Ducks opened their lead to 2-0 in the 42nd minute on the second mark of 2013 for junior
Mariah Cleveland. Cleveland took a shot from the corner of the box to beat Utica goalkeeper Jamie Enders. Enders suffered the loss but made 16 saves in the contest.
Late in the second half, freshman
Gabby Mathelier tacked on the third Stevens goal in the 83rd minute as she beat the Utica defender down the left flank and struck a shot into the far post for her fifth goal.
Sophomore
Evelyn Ting earned her first victory over the season in all 90 minutes of action. Ting stopped five shots in the shutout win which is the second this year for Stevens.
Stevens outshot Utica, 23-9, and took seven corners to just three for the Pioneers.
Nazareth 2, Hartwick 1 (

Freshman
Elisa Marchione scored the game-winning goal with 3:36 to play in regulation Saturday to lift visiting Nazareth to a 2-1 women's soccer victory over Hartwick.
It appeared that long drought might be broken after Hartwick's Mary Morrison scored on a header off a corner kick less than four minutes into the game.
Nazareth applied pressure and ended up with a 14-4 overall edge in shots and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. The Golden Flyers couldn't score, however, until the 61st minute as senior
Olivia Derleth delivered her team-leading third goal of the season off an assist from
Julia Teran Pulford, who began the threat off a corner kick.
The score stayed tied 1-1 until Marchione converted her second goal of the season after receiving a through pass from
Katie Trainor, who gained the assist. Trainor's pass created a one-on-one for Marchione against Hartwick keeper Hope Brown and Marchione slotted a shot that settled inside the far post.
Senior
Bethany Novak played in goal for Nazareth and didn't have to make a save. Hartwick's Hope Brown had six saves.
Ithaca 2, Alfred 0 (

The No. 8 Ithaca College women's soccer team (7-1-0, 3-0-0 E8) defeated Alfred (3-6-0, 0-2-0 E8) early Saturday afternoon, beating the Saxons by a score of 2-0 at Merrill Field. Sophomore

Amanda Callanan both scored for the Bombers.
Sophomore
Beth Coppolecchia (7-1-0) made one save in 76:44 minutes of work, while senior
Becca Lewis didn't allow a goal in the final 13:16 of play. Ithaca outshot the Saxons, 34-3, with the Bombers owning a 19-1 shots-on-goal advantage. Ithaca also had eight corner kicks, while Alfred was held to zero.
Callanan got on the board first for the Bombers, netting her third goal of the season in the 33rd minute to give Ithaca the 1-0 advantage. Callanan's tally marked her third-straight game with a goal.
King added to the Ithaca lead with a goal early in the second half. King's tally in the 48th minute marked her conference-leading seventh goal of the season, and gave the Bombers a 2-0 lead. Alfred was unable to record a shot on goal in the second frame, giving Ithaca its third-straight victory.
Houghton 4, Elmira 1 (

Houghton women's soccer scored four second half goals and cruised to a 4-1 victory over Elmira College on Saturday.
Houghton was able to get 10 shots off in the first half, but none found the back of the next. In the final 45 minutes, the Highlander shots were much more effective.
Amanda Zacchigna scored her first goal of the season in the 49th minute to open the scoring.
Erin Miller picked up the assist.
The next two Highlander goals came off the foot of
Sarah Gabriele who converted back to back penalty kicks in the 63rd and 66th minutes. The first beat the keeper high and to the right. The second was to the left.
Stephany Ellison made it 4-0 in the 72nd minute off a pass from
Atalie Fite for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
The shutout was lost in the 77th minute after miscommunication between Houghton keeper
Shawna Sprout and a Highlander defender let a cross come into the box uncontested. The Eagles' Maddie Miller put the shot away to close the scoring on the afternoon.
Sprout finished with just one save in just over 85 minutes in net.
Andi Atherton finished the final five minutes and did not face a shot.
Houghton outshot the Eagles 27-9.
