Seniors Lead Royal Golfers Past Marywood Friday At Scranton Muni
All six seniors on The University of Scranton men’s golf team were in the lineup against Marywood University at the Scranton Municipal Golf Course Friday afternoon.
And they came through with flying colors for veteran head coach Ed Karpovich, leading the Royals to a 297-303 victory.
Senior co-captain
Charles Hudacek (Moosic, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) shot an even-par and season-low round of 72 to lead the Royals, now 6-0 on the season. Scranton also received a 73 from junior
Erik Meyer (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights), 75 from senior co-captain
Grant Gulick (Binghamton, NY/Johnson City), and 77 from senior
Kevin Kucharski(Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon).
Freshman Michael Thomas (Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland) led the Pacers with a 73 and senior Paul Kania (Moosic, Pa./Riverside) and junior Devan Crowley (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) had 76s. Rounding out the Pacers top four scores was sophomore Jack Lawless (Dunmore, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) with a 78.
Also competing for the Royals today were seniors
Brandon Gano (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan),
Andrew Loyack(Greenfield Township, Pa./Scranton Preparatory), and
Dan Penetar (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory), and freshman
Steven Lambrinakos (Stamford, Conn./Trinity). Gano fired a 78, Loyack 81, Lambrinakos 84, and Penetar 85.
Hudacek’s 72 was just two strokes shy of tying his career-low round of 70, which he shot in winning the Utica Fall Invitational individual title on September 4, 2011, at the Kanon Valley Country Club in Oneida, New York.
