W&J Blanks Wittenberg; Utica Falls to Rochester

Four different Presidents scored goals and sophomore goalie Morgan Brozena earned a shutout after making five saves during Washington & Jefferson's 4-0 victory over Wittenberg on Sunday afternoon at Cameron Stadium.
The Presidents (3-1), who doubled the Tigers (1-3) in shot attempts (18-9), scored first eight minutes in as freshman forward Kelly Knisel fired home her third goal of the weekend.
Junior midfielder Catherine Beaudoin lifted a pass in front of the cage to senior forward Catherine Villa 12 minutes later and Villa re-directed it past Wittenberg goalie Sarah Brownell for a 2-0 advantage.
W&J added its final two goals six minutes apart early in the second half. Freshman forward Lauren Brown stuffed in a feed from classmate Amanda Steffey before Beaudoin capped the scoring. Knisel assisted on the final tally.
Rochester 3, Utica 0 (Box Score)
The Utica College field hockey team suffered its first loss of the season as it fell to nationally-ranked No. 18 University of Rochester 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
The Yellow Jackets got on the board just 2:48 into the contest as freshman Callie Fisher netted her first collegiate goal assisted by Lindsay Randall. Fisher deflected the ball in front of the net and over the head of Utica net minder Kells Casey. Eight minutes later, U of R struck again as sophomore Michelle Relin tallied her third of the season, unassisted. Rochester capped off the scoring at 32:25 as Nicole Cerza controlled a deflection in front of the net and shot into the gaping cage for her third of the season.
The Pioneers threatened in the second half but were unable to solve Yellow Jacket goalie Madison Wagner. Casey and Wagner each ended up with 12 saves on the day.
