Box Score)
Sydney Bloomstein scored a season-high 17 points as the St. John Fisher College women's basketball picked up a conference win after defeating Stevens Institute of Technology 74-58 Saturday afternoon at Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium.
Fisher led 37-20 at the half and continued to apply the pressure in the opening minutes of the second half. Bloomstein found a cutting
McKenzie Bezon for a quick bucket as the Cardinals opened up another run, this time outscoring the visiting Ducks 8-2 as Fisher held a 45-22 lead with just over 16 minutes remaining in the contest.
As the half wore on, both teams continued to battle until the Cardinals opened up a 29-point margin, courtesy of a 13-2 run capped by another Bezon layup.
Stevens would battle back, however, using a 20-4 run to dwindle Fisher's lead to 11 points with two minutes left to play, but it was not to be as the Cardinals went 9-11 from the charity stripe to earn the win.
