Ithaca Women's Track & Field Team Opens 2014 at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's track & field team returned to competition kicking off 2014 at Cornell's Southern Tier Collegiate Open Friday night at Barton Hall.
Ithaca had five ECAC qualifiers and eight top-five finishers in a meet featuring Division I, II and III competition.
Junior
Emilia Scheemaker (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) won gold in the triple jump with a mark of 11.79 meters and placed eighth in the long with a leap of 5.17 meters. Both met ECAC standards. Rookie
Lexi Clavet (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.70 meters.
Freshman
Natalie Meyer (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) cleared 1.65 meters in the high jump to hit the ECAC qualifier and place fourth.
Junior
Harmony Graves (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) raced to a pair of ECAC marks. She ran fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.98 and placed eighth in the 200 with a 26.77 finish. Classmate
Rachel Friedman (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) followed Graves to place fifth in the 60 dash finals in 8.16.
Other top-five finishes included sophomore
Eliza Dewart (Barker, N.Y./Barker) placing second in the 500 run in 1:23.64, senior
Elaine Abdulky (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) was the runner-up with a toss of 13.57 meters in the weight throw and freshman
Francesca Boylan (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) placed fourth in the shot put with a heave of 10.55 meters.
The Bombers will next compete Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Ramapo Invitational at the Armory in New York City.
