Indoor Track & Field Teams Open 2014 at NYC Gotham Cup
RESULTS
NEW YORK CITY (January 10, 2014) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's indoor track & field team competed at the NYC Gotham Cup to begin the 2014 portion of its schedules at the Armory Track & Field Center. All three NCAA Divisions were on display at the meet along with unattached runners and clubs.
Points were only tallied at the meet for Division I institutions.
Sophomore
Amy Regan (Green Brook, N.J.) also qualified for ECACs in the mile with a time of 5:12.51. Regan placed fourth of 41 runners and was just .24 seconds from third overall.
Regan also ran a leg on the second place distance medley relay team that recorded a time of 12:52.39. Sophomore
Kate Moyer (Long Valley, N.J.), freshman
Melissa Gibbons (Oradell, N.J.) and senior
Kelly Freed (Rutherford, N.J.) made up the other three legs of the team that just missed the school record of 12:48.71.
Sophomore
Gladys Njoku (Cedar Grove, N.J.) notched her second-best mark of her career in the high jump with a runner-up showing of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches). Njoku finished second overall in the event.
Senior
Ashley Princiotta (Manalapan, N.J.) ran a time of 5:29.76 in the mile to finish 13th overall.
Three student-athletes performed well in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles that consisted of 39 runners. Senior
Tiffany Evangelou (Fair Lawn, N.J.) finished 12th in a time of 9.74 seconds, freshman
Gina Salmins (Wyckoff, N.J.) took 15th in 9.78 seconds and junior
Amira Dardir (Jersey City, N.J.) placed 19th with a time of 10.05 seconds.
Salmins also came in 15th overall in the triple jump and first in her flight with a leap of 10.28 meters (33 feet, 8.75 inches).
Stevens will head to Middletown, Conn. on January 18 to participate in the Wesleyan University Invitational next. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
