Bombers and Golden Flyers Compete In Tri-Meet At Fredonia

The Ithaca College and Nazareth College women's swimming and diving team competed in a tri-meet with Fredonia Saturday afternoon. 

ITHACA RESULTS
Ithaca started the day with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Megan Buisman (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield), Grace Ayer (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem), Elizabeth Gawrys (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and Lake Duffy (Pen Argyl, Pa./Pen Argyl) earned the top spot with a time of 1:55.28.

Ayer dominated throughout the remainder of the meet, piling up points for the Bombers with three more first place finishes. She paced the field in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 1:00.70. Ayer also finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke, completing the race in a time of 2:30.30. Ayer completed her individual achievements with a finishing time of 2:12.93 to earn the top spot in the 200-yard individual medley.

Buisman also did well individually, earning a first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.76. She finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.08. Gawrys finished first in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:23.76. Not to be outdone, Duffy earned the top spot with a time of 25.30 in the 50-yard freestyle and finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.43.

Nickie Griesemer (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) paced the field in the 1-meter dive, earning a first place finish with a season-high score of 232.05. She also earned a second-place finish in the 3-meter dive, earning a season-high score of 249.40. Teammate Heather Markus (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) placed third in the 3-meter dive, finishing with a score of 238.45

Meredith Wells (Corvallis, Ore./Crescent Valley) earned the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:11.28. Megan Zart (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) capped of the individual top finishes, taking first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.01.

The Bombers closed the meet with a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Buisman, Duffy, Erin Hackett (Lincoln Park, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and Lyndsay Isaksen (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) finished in a time of 1:44.13.


NAZARETH RESULTS
Freshman Cameron Hess won the women's 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:02.14 and placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:31.63. 

Several athletes collected second and third-place finishes for the women's and men's teams. The women's 200-yard medley team, comprised of seniors Maura Reissig andKarisa Kobel, junior Brittany Friedrich, and freshman Bridget Geary, placed second with a time of 1:57.71. Geary also placed third in the 50-yard freestyle (:26.26) event while Reissig added a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.38).

Following Hess in the 1000-yard event was sophomore Kimberly Pedrotti in third place with a time of 11:20.62. Pedrotti also placed third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:25.32) as she finished about a second behind teammate Kristen Vitale (2:24.29).
